Early Spring Updates

We've decided to get a head start on spring by coming out of hibernation early and introducing some wonderful navigation/layout updates on ShutterBudd.  Here are some highlights.

Navigation

First, we've simplified the top navigation by displaying the top 3 user actions (Share Photo Tips, Browse Gear, and Join the Show!) plus a list of links (Explore) to quickly get you to other ShutterBudd pages.

Quick Links

The "Share Photo Tips" tab is the old "Upload Photos" link.  Since we are interested not only in fantastic photo uploads, but also informative tips and techniques, we've decided to label that link more appropriately.

The "Browse Gear" tab will take you directly to our gear landing page.  More updates on that page will be coming in the near future.

The "Join the Show!" tab is the old "The Show" link.  We've got a great set of repeat photographers that consistently exhibit their work at the Show and we're very proud of their work!

Explore

When you mouse-over the "Explore" tab, you'll find a list quick links to other parts of the ShutterBudd web site.  Since, it's almost spring time, stretch those finger muscles and check out all the pages behind each link and you might find a few nice surprises.  I've give you some hints - featured photo tips and ideas, featured users, etc...  We'll do a proper introduction on those in the next newsletter.

The New Search Bar

Second, we've made it easier to search for your favorite gear, photo, people, articles, forum topics, and the show content with a new and improved search bar. Select a search category, enter search keywords and hit go.

If you leave the search text field blank and click on search, it will bring you to the land page for that section.  Try it out.

Share the ShutterBudd Experience

Third, we've made it convenient to share your favorite page, photo, etc with someone else via email, Facebook, Twitter, Delicous, etc...  Click on "More..." to see all the available options.

The Newly Improved Photo Browser

Finally, we gave the photo view all page a fresh makeover.  Thumbnails have been moved to the left to make it easier for our viewers to see the photo without scrolling.  Camera gear used to take the photo shows up nicely along with EXIF data and tags.

The Show - May 2009 Theme: Textures

The theme for the May 2009 show is textures.  You can choose to shoot things up close, or far away.  Make the photo come to life with 3D qualities! It's currently open for submissions. You have until 4/10/2009 to submit your photos.
