If anything vignetting at wide-open aperture could be better. The center performance is excellent throughout the range with generally good borders. The level of distortions is surprisingly low and CAs are quite well controlled."

"The Canon EF-S 10-22/3.5-4.5 is a very good lens. There is a little corner softness wide open at 10mm, but overall the image quality is excellent. Those who claim that this lens shows "L" quality performance may not be wrong. It is $150-$200 more than the 3rd party competitors, but it does have a wider zoom range than any of then, plus it has a silent, fast, USM ring motor with full time manual..."

"Being newly designed, it has addressed all of the other problems that have been thrown up by digital sensors and optically, if they had stopped at 20mm there would be very little to pick up on. The one slight disappointment is the build quality when looked at in terms of the price, as the cost is more than some ‘L’ class lenses and is the biggest barrier to owning this lens after the need to..."

"To cut the chase, I must say that I am very impressed by the lack of barrel and pincushion distortion in the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens. It is not perfect, but very good for this extreme wide angle focal length range. There is a slight barrel distortion at 10mm moving slowly to a slight pincushion at 22m. Slight enough distortion for me to be happy with the results."
