About Us

Welcome to ShutterBudd, a social network built by photographers for photographers! It was initially built on the idea of peeking into other people's camera bags and discussing gear, but we've blossomed into a bigger monster than that. We've got all kinds of tricks up our sleeves to help you improve your photography and connect with other photographers.

ShutterBudd actually started out when Jeff convinced the rest of the team to start working on a food/restaurant review site. It started innocently enough; while taking a hefty number of food photos for the site, Jeff realized that it's actually a pretty tough thing to do, given less-than-ideal lighting in most restaurants. In fact, he realized that there aren't many sites geared towards beginners at all, and ShutterBudd was born.

Wilson caught the photography bug at an early age. He's been shooting with SLRs since the 1990s and is our official expert at ShutterBudd for all things photography related. After getting a bachelor's degree in architecture from UC Berkeley, Wilson worked at several companies/firms with a keen eye for design and photography. Wilson currently shoots with the Canon Rebel XT camera using various types of lenses from Canon, but you can check out his camera bag for other equipment.

Chang is the girl who works our high-tech magic! She's a bonafide engineer, with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering from Rutgers University and a masters degree in information system management from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as a gifted digital artist. She uses Photoshop and Illustrator to express her creativity when she's not cranking out SQL and PHP scripts. Oh, and she also likes taking photos using all the gear in her camera bag

Jeff holds a bachelors degree from UC Berkeley and masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He just started to shoot using a Canon Rebel XTi after using digital point and shoot cameras for the last 8 years, but take a peek into his camera bag to see more.

Reese, a later-comer to the team, is the one responsible for the snarky comments and ever-witty diatribe. Just kidding. She's the chief writer and brings you riveting articles about shutter speed, the rule of thirds, and flower photography. Even though she's a stodgy old engineer by training, with nice diplomas mounted on her wall from UC Berkeley and Rensselaer Polytechnic, she tries to be creative and shoots a lot of old school film using gear from her camera bag.
