What is ShutterBudd?

ShutterBudd is a social network for digital photographers. ShutterBudd enables its members to:

  • Meet other people with the same camera gear as your and exchange photography tips and techniques
  • See what other people have in their virtual camera bags
  • Read user-submitted camera gear reviews and shots taken with the camera gear

Registration is free and you will be able to participate in conversations with other photographers and share your love for photography.

Why sign up with ShutterBudd?

Why not? =) By signing up with ShutterBudd, you will be able to participate in a community of people who are passionate about digital photography. You don't have to be a professional photographer to fit in, but we won't hold it against you if you have superb photography skills!

The other perk that comes with registering with ShutterBudd is that we can personalize your ShutterBudd experience and bring you photos, comments, reviews from your buddies that are also on ShutterBudd. We can also provide you with news and classifieds information on equipments that most interest you.

How do I invite my friends to join ShutterBudd?

There are several ways of inviting your friends to the ShutterBudd community.

Inviting friends new to ShutterBudd
Click on the invite link on the top right hand corner (after you've logged in as a registered user). On the invitation page, enter your friends' email address and click submit.

Inviting friends already on ShutterBudd
Click on the Find User link at the footer of a ShutterBudd web page and you can search for a registered user on ShutterBudd. You can search for a user by several types of information including name, email address, etc.... If the friend you are looking for shows up on the result page, click on the Invite Buddy button to invite him/her to become your buddy. If the person you're looking for is not on the search result page, you can invite that person by clicking on the "+add friends" button.

How do I find camera gear?

You can find camera gears by entering keywords (e.g. Canon 40D, Nikon 28-200mm, etc...) at the search bar in the top navigation area. If you don't find what you are looking for, try smaller chunks of the keywords. (e.g. Instead of typing in "Pentax 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 SMC DA ED AL (IF) Lens", try "Pentax 18-250mm").

Why is the camera gear I'm searching for not listed?

Our aim is to get as much information related to digital cameras as possible, but we really appreciate you telling us which gear we're still missing. Feel free to send us an email at info@shutterbudd.com or submit the add item request form (http://www.shutterbudd.com/items/add).

How do I add a camera gear?

If you can't find the camera gear you're looking for, go to the bottom of the search result list and click on the "Click here to add an item" link. Your add an item request will be reviewed by a ShutterBudd staff and posted online shortly after we've gathered the product specs.

How do I review a camera gear?

To add a review you can click on the Add Review link on item detail page. Find the camera gear first and click on the Add Review link.

How do I upload photos?

There are two ways to add photos. You can click on the "+add photos" link at the top of each web page (top navigation) and you can click on the "add photos" link at a camera item's page.

To add photos via the "+add photos" link, you'll need to tell us which camera gear you used to shoot the photo. We ask you to do this because this is how we link the camera equipment used to take the photo.

We really appreciate you following the terms of service guidelines for uploading appropriate photos and other contents.

How do I add a camera gear into my "have it" or "want it" virtual camera bag?


You can add the gear by finding it through the search function on the top of the navigation bar and click on the "have it" or "want it" button in the search result, or you can click on the "have it" or "want it" button when you are on the camera gear's detail page.

How do I add a camera gear to my custom camera bag?

You can only add a camera gear to your bag from the "item detail page":

  1. Create a custom ShutterBudd camera bag.
    Create a custom ShutterBudd camera bag if you haven't already done so.
  2. Go to the "item detail page" for the gear you want to add, such as the Nikon D300 DSLR camera page.
  3. Below the "have it" and "want it" buttons you will see the name of the bag you just created.
  4. Click on the name of your custom virtual camera bag and add the gear to that bag.
